Bamboo Forest Temple also has a comprehensive weapon training programme,
involving the study of the pole form and other weapons such as the
broadsword and tiger fork (otherwise known as the Dai Pa). On the
more traditional side, a few of the more skilled students are taught
the unicorn dance, found only among the Hak Gar dialect people in
China, in whose region this style of Kung Fu was founded. It is by
tradition totally different to the lion dance. The lion, an agressive
animal is not allowed to perform its dance within the house as the
Chinese consider it to be un-friendly. The Unicorn, a lucky animal
in the eyes of the Chinese community, is for the bringing the occupier
good fortune. The Unicorn Dance is often performed in the New Year
and during special events and celebrations.
Yellow Dragon Fist And Mantis
Until recently. Bamboo Forest Temple Southern Mantis Kung Fu was only
taught and practiced by the Chinese. However, after the death of Grandmaster
Yang Yin, westerners were presented with opportunity to study and
learn this system. The practitioners of this system are Master Kim
Law in London (retired), Simon Fan in Birmingham, Lau Din-On in Kent,
and Simon Wong in London. This system can also be found in America.
Cheung Yin Chung's students known as Grandmaster Lum Sun, settled
and founded his own system.
Sifu Simon Wong has incorporated the Bamboo Forest Temple system into
his own style of Kung Fu, Yellow Dragon Fist. Teaching it as a complete
independent system with his own style, and only to those students
who undergo and pass the ultimate test, and trials which he sets over
a period of many years. This ensures that only the most trustworthy,
humble and patient of his students are rewarded with such deadly knowledge.
Yellow Dragon Fist Tai Chi and Mantis Kung Fu combines the soft Yang
style of Tai Chi with the hard style of Southern Praying Mantis, the
system is a refined interweaving of many of the most advanced combat
systems of the martial arts today. The system is designed to provide
a clear direction and a form foundation from which to obtain a true
understanding of the martial arts.
Sifu Wong concentrates on building up the power, speed and skill and
courage of his students, emphasising the importance of both internal
and external power. These factors are the most important in determining
the outcome of a fight and so are the most important parts of any
martial arts system.
True Buddha Dharma - Living Buddha Sheng - Yen Lu
Before Sifu Wong learned from Living Buddha Sheng-Yen Lu (founder
of True Buddha School), he always wondered and doubted why some of
the best Kung Fu fighters ended up being ill or murdered or even suffering
from their own conscience. After studying the True Buddha School Dharma,
Sifu Wong realised that although you are the best fighter, trained
to the limit of your capabilities, you still cannot triumph over your
karma, the universal law of cause and effect created by your own deeds.
A good example of this is a martial artist wanting to challengeand
beat everybody else, eventually, it is only a matter of time before
someone will treat you the same way, challenge you and beat you. It
is at this point that you will have nothing, everything that you lived
for is gone.
Many people believe by learning martial arts, internal as well as
external, that they can train themselves mentually and spiritually
to reach a high level. The truth shows that you can learn from the
outside, but you cannot learn from the inside. People say that they
alone control their fate and can stop karma, but then they ask themselves
what causes karma? Someone once questioned me, "When I stand
totally motionless, without sound, then surely I am stopping karma
and controlling my own fate". I answered, "You are right,
yet you are wrong, you have purified your body and speech, but what
about the mind. Can you empty your mind, control your thoughts stop
thinking, become emptiness?". Even thinking for a split second
will create karma. So if you really are the best fighter, you must
defeat your greatest enemy, yourself, and overcome "karma".
The teachings of the True Buddha Dharma, shows you the way to purify
your speech, your body and your mind, so at that time you can turn
to be a Buddha, everything is you and you are everything. You need
not search on the outside but only inwards and then the emptiness
is your real master, thus we need someone to show us the way. Our
master "Living Buddha Shen-Yen Lu" has already achieved
that level and can show us the way to get there.
Yellow Dragon Fist teaches Kung Fu and True Buddha Dharma, the complete
and unlimitless truth, taught in such a way to suit the modem era.
